Titans: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Jason Todd

5. He Actually Killed The Joker Once

Jason Todd
DC Comics

In 2007’s Countdown To Final Crisis, Jason found himself travelling across the multiverse, eventually ending up on Earth-51 – a parallel dimension that was free from the notorious supervillains of Earth-1.

Upon being rescued from trouble by this Earth's Batman, he eventually managed to convince this Dark Knight of his identity. In doing so, he discovered that the reason for the apparent peace was because this Batman had killed all of its biggest threats.

Distraught by Jason’s death, this Caped Crusader lashed out and killed the Joker – a violent action that he would repeat on countless other formidable supervillains. As this was an approach that Jason always wanted his iteration of Bruce to adopt, the pair briefly bonded, before Batman agreed to fight alongside him, giving him a Robin costume he had chosen for his Jason.

Batman and the newly-named Red Robin fought together, until the former was killed by Ultraman. Heartbroken, Jason spied an alternate version of the Joker laughing and, much like his Earth-51 mentor, he lashed out and killed the Clown Prince of Crime.

Not only had he completed this Batman’s work, he had finally exacted some form of revenge by killing a version of the man who once killed him. Comic book irony at its finest.
