Titans Season 1: 4 Ups & 1 Down From 'Origins'

3. Every Little Helps

Raven Beast Boy
Warner Bros.

While the show's series premiere was undoubtedly a solid, if surprising, endeavour, it was let down by the fact that it didn't give much attention to some of its protagonists. Unfortunately, the one who suffered the most was Beast Boy - who was barely given a minute of screentime in the closing scene before not featuring at all in the second episode.

However, this week's outing rectified this, as the character appeared at the arcade and struck up a conversation with Raven as she played a game of pinball. The pair were awkwardly adorable around each other and it was one of the first times that Raven genuinely smiled. It may have only been a brief moment, but the chemistry between them was obvious, and that's more than enough to justify Beast Boy's presence in the episode.

As he previously had no connection to the main narrative, it was impossible to understand what kind of role he would actually play. But now, it's looking likely that his connection to Raven will be what ultimately draws him into the thick of everything, and that's a good thing. Not only will this give the writers the chance to develop Beast Boy some more, but it will also finally give actor Ryan Potter a chance to show us what he can do with the role.
