Why is Dick so angry? Why is Raven always surrounded by religious iconography? What does Starfire want with Raven?

These are questions that we have been asking since the beginning of the show, and this week we finally got some answers - well, partial answers, at least. As evidenced by its title, 'Origins' was very much an episode that dwelled on the past, but in doing so, it gave us some insight into the present, highlighting why these characters behave the way they do and what the ultimate purpose of the storyline is.

No matter how many times it has been retold in comics, animation and film, Dick Grayson's backstory never gets old and it was nice to see Titans' interpretation. Just seeing him acting out and seeking vengeance at such a young age helps the audience understand why he is now behaving so radically and why he is so passionate about helping Raven.

However, it wasn't just the flashbacks that did the storytelling, as the present day narrative also gave us a glimpse into the past, thanks to Raven's trip back to St. Paul's Convent. There, she discovered a little more about her history, which ultimately led to the demon within making its presence felt. Moreover, it also led to Starfire figuring out some valuable information about her place in story.

All of this shed a little more light on a rather confusing mystery and allowed the characters to fully come into their own. Speaking of which...
