Titans Season 2: 6 Things That Have To Happen
3. Allow Trigon To Be A Proper Main Villain
An issue that Season 1 faced was a lack of a consistent face that audiences could fear/hate. No villainous character ever stuck around long enough to really grow attached to in any regard. With Trigon finally arriving, Season 2 needs to give him the limelight so that viewers can get someone suitably menacing and memorable.
Think of how essential impressionable villains have been to the history of the Titans. Whether it's Trigon or good ol' one-eyed Slade, so much of the Teen Titans adventures were significantly heightened thanks to their presence. There was an intimidation factor, much of it coming from these threatening, mature presences being angled at such young, innocent heroes. The great contrast between them opened a children's show up to rather dark elements that would've been completely skipped over without them.
Titans differs greatly as it's already opened itself up to considerably grim stories, firmly planting itself on the opposite side of its animated counterparts. The R-rated, uncompromising approach to this material means Trigon can be all kinds of evil, without worrying about giving young viewers nightmares. He'll have no restrictions, leaving him the chance to illustrate why he deserves the head antagonist spot.
