Titans Vs. Arrowverse: Which Is Better?

6. Villains-Of-The-Week

Titans V Arrowverse
The CW

Thanks to countless villain-of-the-week adventures, it could be argued that, in this day and age of continuing dramas, superhero television is single-handedly keeping the concept of a filler episode alive.

Given DC's endless list of iconic supervillains, it makes sense that the Arrowverse shows often take a break from the main narrative to allow us to see some live-action versions of these secondary characters. Over the years, we have seen the likes of Captain Cold, Count Vertigo and Metallo introduced in seemingly random adventures that, at times, prove to be a lot more fun than the respective show's overall arc.

However, all four of the shows tend to come up with clever ways to incorporate the villain-of-the-week encounters into these overarching storylines, with the hero usually learning something of importance that will help him/her in their fight against the Big Bad. So, in effect, they are vital to the plot while being good old fashioned fun at the same time.

Titans, on the other hand, doesn't really do "fun", so there is even more purpose to their single-episode encounters. While there haven't exactly been that many to judge, the show did deviate more than expected during its 11-episode debut season, focusing on different heroes and, as a result, different villains. For example, the introduction of Hawk and Dove also led to the arrival of a sadistic arms dealer who Dick ended up brutally assaulting - furthering his descent into darkness.

On storyline potential, both of them use their villain-of-the-week episodes wisely, but in terms of overall enjoyment and better-known villains, the Arrowverse takes this one.

Winner: Arrowverse
