Titans Vs. Arrowverse: Which Is Better?

5. Loyalty To The Comics

When it comes to paying tribute to its source material, the Arrowverse is often all over the place - after all, it all started with an Oliver Queen that was a far cry from his comic book counterpart. At times, the inspiration is clearly there (The Flash never fails to pay tribute to its comic book beginnings) while at other times, the source material is completely forsaken in favour of bland original stories instead (see Arrow Season 4). For the most part, it puts its own spin on the comics, even if that's not always a good thing.

Titans is a different story altogether. Although it started a little rough, it quickly morphed into a great comic book adaptation. Though each of the characters had their own unique qualities brought by the writers and actors, they were essentially ripped from the pages of a DC comic book. Robin may have been a little darker, but he still looked, spoke and felt like Robin - the same goes for Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy.

Furthermore, the mystery surrounding Raven's origins was a nice story to focus on and, in a show that could have been all about Dick, the writers did a great job pulling from perhaps somewhat lesser-known source material to build a show, and a team, around Raven - all while giving each Titan a backstory that comic fans would be proud of.

When it comes to paying tribute to the comics, none of them are perfect. But given Titans' successful debut season, and the Arrowverse's tendency to squander some of the most iconic comic book aspects, this is a battle in which the newcomer has the edge.

Winner: Titans
