27. The Science of Illusion (Season 1, Episode 20)
This episode- as well as having the very funny subplot of Abed following Annie and Shirley as campus security, battling it out for Badass status- is in here for a very important reason. Its where we come to see that Britta is the worst. She is not the hardline hot girl that is all Jeff thinks about, instead she fully become one of the gang, as the butt of pretty much every joke, and becomes all the better for it. Plus, we get to see Pierce as the Cookie Crisp Wizard and Troys funniest outbreak of crying.
26. Abeds Uncontrollable Christmas (Season 2, Episode 11)
Some of you may wonder why this isnt further up the list. Well, simply because its not as funny as a lot the episodes higher up. Its included for being a lot of fun and ingenious- who ever would have guessed theyd do stop-motion? And it gives Abed some important development, anchoring the special, which excellently lampoons its peers, in reality and giving it a bit of an edge. How many Christmas Specials can juggle that whilst keeping you in a thoroughly festive mood? Oh, and it includes more than a few cracking musical cues and a Christmas Pterodactyl.
