3. More Female Characters
Rachel McAdams will be playing Ani Bezzerides, one of the main characters on the show and described as a Ventura County Sheriffs detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves. It sounds as though its definitely going to be a meaty role and, being True Detective, one that comes with a lot of complexity and dark secrets as well. Aside from Bezzerides, there will be a recurring role for Kelly Reilly as Jordan Seymon, wife of Vince Vaughns Frank, a D-list actress who is a partner in all of her husbands enterprises, and a guest role for Lolita Davidovich as the mother of Taylor Kitschs Paul Woodrugh. The major criticism of season one was the poor portrayal of its female characters, something necessitated by the fact it was a close-look at the world from the point of view of two very messed-up male characters. Nonetheless, it looks like it's something it has improved here, and the first episode should give us a good look at the hard women promised to be featuring this year.
