True Detective Preview: What To Expect From Season 2 Episode 1
2. Establishing The World
The tagline for the series is: We get the world we deserve. What kind of world that is, exactly, is something the show will expand on throughout the season, but it needs to establish it in the first episode. Taking place located between San Francisco and Los Angeles, in a fictional town called Vinci, The Western Book of the Dead should be giving us a good look at the location well be spending a lot of time in over the next couple of months, as well as the characters who inhabit it. We'll certainly be meeting McAdams' Bezzerides in the first episode, as well as Vaughn's Frank Seymon, Taylor Kitsch's Paul Woodrugh, and Colin Farrell's Ray Velcoro. The first episode will have a lot to do in terms of those introductions, as itll be setting up the story for the entire season, providing answers as to how well the new actors will perform, and also giving us an indication as to the tone of the show. With only eight episodes on offer, the first is vital in showing what it is about and giving people a reason to come back the next week.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
