True Detective Preview: What To Expect From Season 2 Episode 1
4. Plenty Of Action
Whereas Cary Fukunaga directed all eight episodes of the first season, there will be a number of directors behind the camera through this one, meaning that while therell be a general tone and feel to the show, they should be able to put different twists on their own episodes. First up is Justin Lin, and the thing that stands out from his background is action. He is best known for directing a number of movies in the Fast and Furious franchise (he directed from Tokyo Drift to Fast 6), and hell be directing next years Star Trek sequel. His most famous work on TV was the Community episode Modern Warfare, aka the first paintball episode, and again that was fairly action-packed and adrenaline-fuelled. While True Detective was a show that worked as an intense-character study and more of a slow-burn, there were thrilling moments as well, and with Lin directing it looks as though we should be getting a lot more of them in the first episode.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
