True Detective Season 2 Trailer: 10 Things You Need To Know

6. Vince Vaughn As Frank Semyon

...who we see Farrell's Velcoro hanging out with in a darkened dive bar a couple of times during the teaser. If McConaughey's casting was a surprise, then Vince Vaughn's here was met with outright derision. Not only is he mainly a comedic actor, but a comedic actor whose last half-dozen films have been stinkers. Vaughn very much looked like he was on the way out, in the light of rubbish films like The Internship and some truly troubling opinions put forth in interviews. But much as the first season was for McConaughey, True Detective might be his chance for career redemption €“ and this is the guy, after all, that Gus Van Sant cast as the titular Psycho in his shot-for-shot Hitchcock remake. The actor looks to be bringing some of that psychotic intensity to Frank Semyon, €œa career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.€ Semyon's got the most demons of anyone, then, and clearly isn't dealing well with going straight or the murder thing, seen punching literally everything in one shot of this trailer.
