11. Answered: How Did Amelia Die?
In 2015 we know that Amelia had passed, and Wayne had been having hallucinations of her talking to him. How she died, though, thought to be answered in the show at some point, remained a mystery.
“Since Amelia’s fate was edited. What did happen to her?” asked one of the commenters. Pizzolatto’s response, “She died peacefully, though suddenly, in her sleep in 2013.”
How she died being omitted seemed to be a statement on the cause not mattering but the effect being what’s important. That was until someone asked, “Did I see you respond that Amelia’s fate was simply edited out for time??” “You did. I hated to have to do it. Not my call.” Pizzolatto addresses studio interference more than once in the comment thread, bringing questions to his relationship to HBO.
Remember, HBO wanted Jeremy Saulnier to direct all eight episodes though he only directed 2, and reports stated that he butt heads with Pizzolatto often.
