7. New Characters
This one is kind of a cheat, as we know for a fact that the show will be getting three new characters in Season Two. More accurately then, this entry is that the show must include strong character arcs and developed personas for newcomers in the cast, but ‘new characters’ is just a bit snappier.
The new characters in question Lila, Raymond and Sissy, played by Ritu Arya, Yusuf Gatewood and Marin Ireland respectively. The characters and their casting were announced through The Umbrella Academy’s official social media platforms, and speculation is rife that they may also have super powers.
Reginald was only able to procure 7 of the children born via instantaneous miracle birth out there after all, with more than 30 still out there, surely they’ll come into the story at some point.
As for the characters themselves, we’ve been told that Lila is ‘a chameleon who can be as brilliant or as clinically insane as the situation requires’, is ‘unpredictable, mischievous and sarcastic’ and has a ‘twisted sense of humour’.
Raymond is a ‘born leader and devoted husband’ with ‘smarts, gravitas and confidence’, while Sissy is a ‘fearless, no nonsense Texas mom’ who ‘married young for all the wrong reasons’.
