5. Hellfire May Follow, In Time

In that same initial announcement, Deadline also unveiled Fox and Marvel's plans for Hellfire. This series, "Set in the late 1960s", is said to focus on "a young Special Agent who learns that a power-hungry woman with extraordinary abilities is working with a clandestine society of millionaires – known as 'The Hellfire Club' – to take over the world." This would not be the same Hellfire Club from X-Men: First Class, but a "different version".

A few months later, Hellfire hit a roadblock. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that the show's writers Evan Katz and Manny Coto had departed the project to focus on 24: Legacy. Hellfire was put on a "slower track" to Legion, and apparently "a search is underway for a new writer."

The concept behind Hellfire - essentially secret agents vs super-villains in the sexy '60s - remains strong, so chances are it will bubble back to the surface in time. But for now, Marvel and Fox are working on a different mutant-centric series to follow Legion to the small screen...
