Vikings: 10 Most Disturbing Moments
8. The Head Of Uncle Brihtwulf
Kwenthrith was a character who certainly made an impression, as everything this unfortunate ruler went through was engaging and shocking. However, one of the most uncomfortable moments in the series came after the defeat of her uncle Brihtwulf, and how she treated his severed head.
After the figure was defeated, Kwenthrith asked Ragnar to provide her with proof by passing over his severed head. The legendary Viking obliged, and Kwenthrith responded by brutally stabbing the decapitated head over and over again.
Brihtwulf undoubtedly deserved punishment for his deeds, but when you take the context out of the picture, what you are left with is a disgusting sequence that shows a woman brutally taking out her cathartic revenge on a disgusting broken piece of a man.
However, the scene's real disturbing nature is the horrifying reveal of why she had such pent up rage towards her uncle. Kwenthrith informs Ragnar that her uncle would brutally rape her and share her around with other men when she was only a child, which is an utterly abhorrent image.
The scene combines the disturbing nature of Kwenthrith's past with the barbaric displays of violence that she takes out on her malicious uncle's head, making the segment horrifying as one complete package.
