Vikings isn't all about family forgiveness - not by a long shot, as Earl Sigvard finds out when he pushes tormented wife Lagertha just a little too far. Following the dissolution of her marriage to Ragnar, Lagertha shacks up with Sigvard, but soon realises her mistake, with the abusive Earl wasting no time in making her his personal play-thing. No ex-wife of Ragnar, world's scariest Viking, is going to put up with that kind of nonsense for long however, and the scorned Shieldmaiden sticks a knife through her lover's eye. To top it all off in true, barbaric Viking fashion, one of Sigvard's own men then steps up with a sword to deliver the coup de grâce, revealing that even his hangers-on were fed up with him. As his head rolls around on the wooden floor, we're given one of Vikings's goriest moments so far and shown Lagertha is not a woman to be trifled with.
