Vikings: 8 Most Insane Fan Theories

5. Harbard's Identity Finally Revealed?

One of the show's biggest plus points was how it integrated the mythological ambiguously. You never really knew if the apparitions and fantasy moments were genuine or not, and this led to a tonne of mystery within the show. The greatest of these mysteries was undoubtedly the wanderer named Harbard, a man who seemed more than human.

The series has made many allusions about who he might be, with the most obvious being Odin, Loki or Thor. Floki even mentions how Harbard was another name for Odin, and his stories perfectly align with the other gods. But according to some theorists, the litany of Nordic references were just a red herring to pull you away from the truth that Harbard is actually Jesus Christ.

His behaviour certainly wasn't very Christ-like, but some aspects could prove this theory, such as his ability to perform miracles like healing the sick and his strong physical resemblance to the son of god. It's not a lot, but these are decent signs that point towards his divinity.

If this were true, it would be a rather unexpected twist. Sadly the show concluded without answering the question and it seems like fans are destined to be forever guessing who this man really was.
