Aslaug was an incredibly intriguing character. She came from out of nowhere and turned the show on its head, causing Ragnar and Lagertha's split and becoming the mother of Ivar, Sigurd, Ubbe and Hvitserk. The show established that there was something supernatural behind her thanks to her proven prophecies, but this theory takes that a step further, and claims that she was a full witch.

There aren't any direct links that establish this, but the character's suspicious death caused many fans to raise a brow or two. Just prior to her demise, Aslaug requested to be allowed to leave, but right before she stepped out of Kattegat, Lagertha shoots her with an arrow, and Aslaug then let out a devilish smile before falling to the ground.

Many interpreted this as her finding joy in the fact that her sons will avenge her, but others have theorised that it was a sign of her witchcraft connection. The theory goes that she bewitched Lagertha and cast a spell on her, which could only be completed after her death. This would supposedly lead to the decline of the new Queen of Kattegat and her eventual demise.

Of course, there had been many rumours about Aslaug being a witch within the show, but it always seemed to be hearsay. It looks like this one will be forever open to discussion.
