Vikings: 8 Most Insane Fan Theories
4. Rangar Isn't Really Dead!
Like father, like son.
The death of Ragnar Lothbrok was a significant milestone in the series. It shifted the show into an entirely new era, which saw the spotlight transition from the legendary Viking to his children. However, some people are convinced that Ragnar's time in the snake pit wasn't as deadly as viewers were led to believe.
While there isn't a tonne of evidence to prove this theory, the main sticking point that made fans question Ragnar's death came from the fact that the snake pit was empty when King Aelle showed it to Bjorn and the brothers. Surely Ragnar would still be visible in the pit, at least in a skeletal form.
Fans never actually saw the body of this King after his death, so why wouldn't they let us see it? For many, it was because the show wanted to keep his fate ambiguous, as they were convinced he was still alive and was awaiting a return.
Of course, this theory doesn't have many legs to stand on, as there are many reasons why Ragnar's body wouldn't be in the pit. Still, it's a neat idea to imagine that the former King of Kattegat was still luring out in the world prior to the show's end.
