Looks wise Ubbe was as close to Ragnar Lothbrok as you could possibly get. It is a shame that in most other ways he was totally different.

On paper Ubbe is one of the best members of cast. He travels as far as the Americas, discovers Greenland and helps to avenge his father’s death. For these reasons he has earnt this place in the top ten.

It is his lack of ability to encapsulate the audience that prevents him from achieving a higher place. He is a ‘yes-man’ that does everything which is expected of him. Upholding his honour, remaining faithful to his wife and only choosing violence when necessary. In other less savoury words, he is a big, dull dud.

A saving grace for him is his constant battle with his little brother, Ivar. The rivalry between the two is fierce and it is intriguing to watch their relentless struggle for power.

Unfortunately, this isn’t enough to drag Ubbe out from his boring slumber.
