Vikings: Each Main Character Ranked From Worst To Best

All hail the king of sleaze. The sneakiest person in the show and a man you wouldn’t trust as far as you could throw him.

From the start you could see that Ecbert was different to the other English leaders. He wasn’t utterly devoted to God but instead lived a life of vice. A man that would flirt with pagan culture and whore his way through a collection of women.

The friendship that Ecbert strikes up with Ragnar is truly something to be marvelled at. Some of the best parts of the early series are the private conversations the men have between them. An example being when Ragnar returns to England to die. The scenes are epic and you can see the love and affection between the pair.

More than this was Ecbert’s ability to always keep the audience guessing. You lose count of the number of times that he double crosses someone. He is only concerned about one thing. Himself. Never more evident than when he began an affair with his son’s wife and his buddy Ragnar’s ex-wife.

Ruthless is the best word to describe him. Ecbert may be a selfish pig but he’s our selfish pig.
