Vikings: Each Main Character Ranked From Worst To Best
5. Ivar
Everybody loves a good villain. It
is a sickness inside everyone and something that cannot be controlled. Ivar
typifies what it takes to be a villain and delivers exceptionally.
As a child it becomes evident that Ivar had slight anger issues. Bashing a child across the head with a hatchet because he took the ball off him. Not cool.
His immediate response to situations is violence. Shown by the shock murder of his brother and slight obsession with dishing out the ‘Blood Eagle’ as punishment.
There is more to the character than this and his military expertise is second to none. The fact that he can manipulate a battlefield to his advantage despite his disability, is a feat to be admired. His role in the taking of York and conquering of Kattegat are testament to his ability.
Like all good villains, Ivar has a human side too. Proven by the affection he showed to young Igor in the later series. It was great to see their friendship blossom and proved that Ivar had a heart.
Love him or hate him, there is no denying that Ivar was a great addition to the franchise. If you have any doubts. Watch his epic death scene. A true masterpiece of glorious death.
