The Walking Dead: 11 Actors In Surprising Early Roles

6. David Morrissey (The Governor) €“ The Other Boleyn Girl

Several centuries before zombies overran civilisation, The Governor aka David Morrissey was lying, scheming and plotting for power across the Atlantic in England in the court of Henry VIII. In The Other Boleyn Girl, Morrissey plays Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk who is determined to garner power in Henry€™s court by using his niece, Anne Boleyn (Natalie Portman), to woo the notoriously lusty king. In the film Thomas Howard proves himself to be an exploitative man desperate to scheme his way to a position of power, regardless of his niece's feelings €“ indeed his other niece, Catherine Howard, would eventually become the King€™s wife also. Despite the Duke€™s power-hungry nature, he€™s got nothing on The Governor. Unlike the Duke of Norfolk, had The Governor existed in Tudor times he wouldn't have been desperately been trying to get a measly crust of power by hooking old Henry up with a wife €“ he would be the King. Morrissey€™s performance as the ruler of Woodbury is one of the most chilling in recent memory. He will do literally anything and trample over anyone to maintain his position of authority in the zombie apocalypse. Halfway through the fourth series we thought we were starting to see a more tender side to The Governor but he abruptly dismembered this notion as he beheaded one-legged, defenceless Hershel.
