The Walking Dead: 11 Actors In Surprising Early Roles

5. Scott Wilson (Hershel Greene) €“ Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

In The Walking Dead Hershel Greene is the father of Beth and Maggie but acts as the more general father figure to the whole group. The veterinarian-turned-sort-of-doctor allows the group to reside at his idyllic farm, which play's host to nearly all of season two's action. Hershel is always putting others before himself no matter what the risk so it comes as quite a shock when you realise Scott Wilson €“ who plays Hershel €“ also played an ex-serial killer in the film Behind The Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon. Greene€™s character, Eugene, isn't just any old serial killer though; he is a man who other serial killers look up to, acting as the mentor to the titular Leslie Vernon in this mockumentary horror film. Heaven knows what despicable acts the our benevolent Hersh must have done to win the admiration of this younger psycho. He offered Leslie Vernon tips on how to carry out his murders and become a successful serial killer. Quite a change from the man who didn€™t have it in him to kill walkers€ A much younger Scott Wilson also played spurned lover George Wilson in the 1974 adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, another atypically murderous character fore-runner to Hershel.
