13. Daryl Decapitates ("TS-19")Walking Dead Daryl Decapitate Despite Rick's assurances that the CDC was going to be their safe haven, the members of his group who want to survive (i.e., not Jacqui or Andrea) are forced to flee before it explodes and takes them all with it in the finale of season one. It requires a handy hand grenade to get them out of the building, and they must fight their way through a sea of Walkers before they can make it back to their vehicles. Rick and Shane stop to shoot a few in their heads, but Daryl demonstrates his mastery of silent weaponry as he doesn't even slow down to swing an axe at a Walker, taking its head off completely. Why It's Great: Daryl decapitates a Walker, and Walker decapitation will never not be great. It was especially welcome in "TS-19," however, because the episode was extremely Walker-lite, taking place almost entirely inside the self-destructing CDC building. Also €“ and more importantly €“ this awesome kill helps us to understand at least a little bit of why the group is willing to put up with Daryl. Season one Daryl was pretty much just Diet Merle, and it was nice to see evidence of why he was worth the trouble to our band of largely ineffectual refugees.
