The Walking Dead: 4 Things "Consumed" Got Right (And 6 It Didn't)

1. The Van Bit

Holy moly, the van bit. Besides that cliffhanger ending, the centrepiece of this episode was clearly when Daryl and Carol decide to go check out the white cross van for clues, only to be overwhelmed by walkers. As soon as that van first appeared teetering over the side of a bridge, it was obvious what was going to happen. And they decided to go in the most ridiculous, credulity-breaking and just plain stupid direction they could with it. And, by extension, it made two of the show's most intelligent characters look stupid, too. Right, so they raid the van for clues. They are not forthcoming. Having already been robbed by Noah, they are left with Daryl's knife, and Carol's gun with three bullets. Why did they spend so long in the van? Why did they think they could fight their way through the hoards? And why did they decide the best course of action was to sit in the van and let the walkers tip them over the edge? It worked, sure, but it absolutely shouldn't. The way it falls doesn't even make sense. Between the van bit and the zombie sleepover, Consumed had some of the most laughable scenes in the history of The Walking Dead. And this is not a very funny show.
