The Walking Dead: 4 Things "Consumed" Got Right (And 6 It Didn't)

The Bad...

6. What About The Church?

Taking the spotlight away from the Rick Grimes Variety Hour has definitely allowed the writers on The Walking Dead to flex some muscles they haven't had a chance to yet, and for the actors to delve into their characters with a little more depth than they perhaps managed when they were managing the delicate balancing act of giving every member of the ensemble equal screen time. Now the ratio is a little more tipped, and viewers have had three episodes in a row focussing on anyone but the members of the church. That's been great, but it does mean that many of The Walking Dead's main characters haven't been seen on screen for three hours. Not only does that mean fans are missing out on some of their favourites, but also means the audience has no idea what they're up to. Either they're in constant peril, but we can't see it, or they're totally safe for the first time in forever, which is...actually, nice for them, but a bit boring. It's a world plagued with walkers and even more vicious scavengers. But they're providing so little threat to the church it's not even worth jumping back to them?
