The Walking Dead 5.1 Review - 5 Talking Points From "No Sanctuary"

2. The Origins Of Terminus

All throughout the offseason speculation about Terminus and their intentions ran rampant. The consensus was that the residents were cannibals, and while that hasn€™t been stated outright, the implications are enough that it seems logical. But these people didn€™t seem like typical threats, and now we€™ve been given an explanation for their behavior. The shots of the candlelit room from last seasons with the messages painted on the wall gave some indication that they felt they had been wronged in the past, and via flashbacks and Mary€™s speech to Carol (who gave zero f*cks), now we know what happened. Initially Terminus was meant to be a sanctuary, until some people came along and took advantage of their kindness, raping and pillaging them, turning them into the monsters they became. Granted, there€™s a huge leap between becoming murderers to avoid being victims and actually feasting on human flesh, but I€™m sure we€™ll get to that. At least we have some origin story for how the group€™s mindset changed. And since previews for this season seem to be indicate Gareth and crew will remain a threat for a while longer, we€™re probably going to delve even deeper into the events that turned Terminus from a safe haven to a people-cue pit.
