The Walking Dead: 5 Reasons The Show Needs The Governor

2. He Represents The Fall Of Humanity

Gov2 More so than any other character we've seen recently on The Walking Dead, Phillip Blake has forsaken his humanity. The kindly mask of that name has slipped away to become The Governor. He kills indiscriminately and strikes fear into those who follow him. Frankly, he's the ultimate post apocalyptic dictator €“ indiscriminate, merciless and not afraid of violence. In this season, the closest we've come to dealing with the human issues of society in decay outside of the core group has come down to a feral Irish woman and one man's desperate battle against the whisky shakes. The main problem to face has been the illness sweeping through the prison but now this has seemingly been all-but=eradicated by the return of Daryl and co. with the meds. It's time to take a new look at sickness €“ not of the body, but of the mind. It's time to witness what the apocalypse can drive a person to. With his home taken from him and the majority of his most loyal followers killed by his own hand, this season's Governor will be a desperate man. We have seen how cold and sadistic he can be when he's in charge of a situation, so who knows what he'll do when his back's against the wall.
