The Walking Dead: 5 Reasons The Show Needs The Governor

3. He Keeps Things Interesting

Gov4 It's all well and good listening to the problems the group has and the politics that result from it. There needs to be character development, and brooding conversations are The Walking Dead's premiere method of exposition. Then there's the action, and this season has been very generous with outings from the prison giving favourites like Daryl and Michonne time to shine, while displaying Tyreese's hammer skills. Gore is all well and good, but there needs to be some shake-up or else all the zombie killing becomes repetitive. There is clearly nothing noble about his intentions on returning, and I'm sure looking back over his time on the run will provide a refreshing change of pace. Most TV series €“ The Walking Dead being no exception €“ sometimes fall flat at the midpoint. After a strong opening this season we are reaching that fateful run of episodes and I think it was a very clever move by the team to delay The Governor's return until there looked to be hope again for the group. They will need all the strength they have to fight him and with a potential showdown between Daryl and Rick looming over Carol's exile, this fracture may be the opportunity our favourite eye-patch wearing psycho has been waiting for.
