The Walking Dead: 6 Things That "Us" Did Right (And 3 It Didn't)
3. A Reunion
One of the most frustrating aspects of the second half of Season 4 has been the separation of the prison survivors. We'd spent years watching the relationships develop between these characters, and seeing them split up into new dynamics has been rough. Objectivity has not been easy. Rick and Carl needed to see that Judith was alive. Tyreese and Sasha needed to meet up. Beth and Maggie. Daryl and Rick. Carol and Daryl. Beth and Judith. And, of course, Maggie and Glenn. Ever since their separation at the end of the midseason finale, Maggie and Glenn have basically abandoned every other purpose than to find one another. Maggie seemed to forget that she had a sister. It's been a simultaneously touching and irritating quest over their past several episodes, and it was a great relief for them to finally reunite in "Us." It wasn't as epic as it could have been, but there was a sense of closure that we really needed. Finally, finally, some of the prison survivors are together again. The storylines are beginning to converge. Besides, I think that we all know that the truly epic reunion is being saved for Rick and Daryl. They're going to nod so meaningfully at each other.
Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
