The Walking Dead: 6 Things That "Us" Did Right (And 3 It Didn't)
2. Terminus
Speaking of conclusions in "Us," we get our first glimpse of the long-awaited Terminus. Maggie, Glenn, Sasha, Bob, Tara, and Abraham and Co. finally make it to the sanctuary. As would be expected, they are greeted by a platoon of armed survivors who approach to make certain that this band of newcomers means no harm to the base of vegetarians and pescatarians. There are lookouts posted everywhere, ready to raise the alarm of any approaching persons or Walkers. It is a formidable yet comforting sight, and we can finally understand the scope and grandeur of a place that has been hanging "Welcome!" signs all over the Georgia railways. Just kidding. That would be way too reassuring. Instead, the group reaches the end of the line and sees "TERMINUS" written on the windows of one of the hub buildings. There are no people dead or alive visible, and the front gate is unlocked. They pass through and spot a sign instructing them to lower their weapons. "You will be met," it reads. They lower their weapons and continue walking until they see a matronly woman working alone over a hot grill. She turns around and smiles. "Let's get you settled," she says, a kindly twinkle in her eyes, "and we'll make you a plate." Settled where? In a pantry? A smokehouse? A walk-in refrigerator? And a plate of what? A plate of human flesh? A plate of sedatives? A plate of carbs to fatten them up for slaughter and feasting? Come on. We all thought it.
Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
