4. Carol Peletier

Whilst everyone surely expected the return of Carol, many would probably not have thought it would come so soon after her initial banishment. Whilst Carol is an extremely interesting and valued character on the show, you can't help but get the impression that her return is a little rushed, and seems almost too coincidental in the name of helping the story along. Indeed, it seems like her reappearance is simply to provide a character to play the babysitter and keep Judith out of the way of the action. Plus, she was able to track down Tyreese and the girls quick enough here, which sort of makes you think back to what more she could have done for Sophia. I could very well be wrong, but it could be argued that Carol's return is to also provide a replacement for Hershel as the wise, calm experienced head in the group, and an ally for Rick, should the two ever be reunited. Carol's character had become vastly more interesting in the first half of the season, particularly with the revelation that she killed members of the group in the name of preservation - whether that proves to be true or not - but thanks to that rapid rise in intrigue, there is a sense that things may be coming to an end for her, living up to the Hershel role in more ways than one. While she may not meet her end in what remains of the fourth season, it would not come as a massive surprise if Carol were to be killed, possibly after Tyreese finds out about her claims of having killed Karen and David. Whether it is he who kills her or not would be anybody's guess, but it is at the time of her death that I expect Tyreese to discover what she did.
