The Walking Dead: 7 Characters Who Need To Die Next

3. Carl Grimes

Throughout the series, Carl has remained the outstandingly least popular character on the show for a great deal of fans. He was a passenger for most of the first series, caused the death of a beloved character in the second and was simply outright annoying in the third. But, weirdly, he's actually started to turn up and be somewhat tolerable in the fourth. Of course, all this has been done deliberately to represent the adulthood being thrust prematurely upon him thanks to the morbid reality surrounding him, but it doesn't make him any less irritating. Carl's appearance in the midseason premiere was arguably the most Carl-like display you're likely to get on the show, as he ranged between Rick-like emotional rage, Shane-like cockiness in the face of danger and a childish side being allowed to flourish thanks to the presence of a barrel of chocolate pudding. He has finally proven his worth as being a valuable member of the group, and what's more, has been accepted by Rick as a man before his age, suggesting a much more serious role in the future. But what this also signals is that Carl is finally being opened up to the real dangers that come with the responsibility of adulthood. Gone are the days of him being able to get away with a stern telling off for something going wrong, he takes responsibility now and puts himself in the way of danger. Similar to Carol, I don't necessarily expect Carl to die in the current season, but if there is any character death yet to come that would push Rick even further than the loss of Lori and (as far as he currently knows) Judith, then Carl would be the spark for that.
