The Walking Dead 'Indifference': 5 Ways Rick's Decision Will Come Back To Haunt Him

3. Carol Could Return For Revenge

Walking Dead Gasoline The biggest question I had at the end of this episode was how they were going to deal with Carol's fate. Will they pull a 'Lost' and leave this question hanging for 5 years? Or will we follow her as she strives to survive on her own? Personally I would like to see the latter. In the seasons leading up to this, Carol has become one of the most interesting characters on the show. Her transformation from meek, battered housewife to Ellen Ripley's personal trainer has been a fascinating one, and I sincerely hope they don't abandon this arc. There is a lot of potential to explore the impact this decision will have on Carol. She has already lost Sophia and, as we have seen from the last few episodes, is becoming more and more detached. Her ice-cold reply when Lizzie accidentally calls her Mom was a far cry from her Helen Lovejoy antics of season 1 & 2 (won't somebody think of the children?). Will this be the moment that pushes Carol into full-blown Rambo mode? It may seem slightly out of character at the minute but just think what kind of toll this would take on you. Carol has lost her daughter, she has lost one of her closest companions (Daryl) and has faced up to the realisation that she was a victim in her marriage (a position she'll never allow herself to be put in again), yet now the leader of the group she has come to call family has ousted her. All these revelations could add up to a decidedly less friendly Carol when, or if, she returns. Another thing to consider? The Governor is still out there. Would she team up with him? Again, it's possibly out of character at the minute, but, if she thinks the group has abandoned her, why should she feel any loyalty towards them? We know the Governor can be quite persuasive and it's not totally unthinkable that Carol would take the opportunity to become part of another group. If so, this could spell serious trouble for Rick and Co.
