The Walking Dead Season 4 Finale: 6 Definitive Things That We Learned

4. Joe Was Just Passing Through

Running up to the finale, a lot of people thought that Joe and his group might play a bigger role in the overall narrative moving forward. It was easy to latch onto Joe and his group of nomadic vagabonds as they picked the world clean using the law of claimed. This group was made up of some pretty hard dudes - especially when it came to taking a quick afternoon catnap in an abandoned house. In the end, Joe and his gang proved to be just another batch of personalities passing through for a short time. They were eventually shown to be as insignificant as some of the folks we first met at the prison and many of the Woodbury residents from season three, who proved to be naught but zombie fodder. But it's important to not forget the role that Joe and his group played in forcing Rick to go a dark place in which fans hadn't seen before. As fans are still reeling from the loss of everyone's favourite villain in the Governor, there's been a strong sentiment that it's time for that next bad guy to step up and prove to be a new challenge to Rick and his group of survivors. Although Joe proved that he was in fact a dangerous person, his purpose in this season was to show that not all people can be trusted and some are in fact still very bad. But most importantly, to die in one of the most gruesome and unforgettable scenes in the shows history.
