The Walking Dead Season 5: 10 Things That Need To Happen

7. Gay Daryl

Of all the characters to get fleshed out across The Walking Dead's four seasons, erm, Daryl isn't one of them. Norman Reedus has managed to make the character a fan favourite through his performance (and, admittedly, his rugged good looks) even whilst the scripts refuse to spill a whole lot about the character, besides his racist brother who has a knife for a hand and his love of a good crossbow. For a minute there it looked like there might finally be a way into discovering more about this mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a sort of weird leather vest thing, as season four saw a fairly chaste dalliance with Beth, a slightly-too-young member of the Greene family who took a shine to Daryl. And you know why that is? Well, according to one particularly vocal part of The Walking Dead's not particularly quiet fandom is of the considered opinion that Daryl Dixon is gay. It's something that original showrunner Frank Darabont considered during the first season - albeit in a slightly offensive fashion - and Reedus himself has admitted that it'd be interesting. No kidding: the most part is, for the most part, a hopelessly hetero show. Considering the drama is, for the most part, supposed to come form the human drama caused by the desperate situation they find themselves in rather than the desperate situation itself (the zombies) most of the time, having Daryl struggle with coming out would be an interesting storyline.
