Another theory that would bring the mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in WandaVision suggests that the show could adapt the House of M storyline that fans have been thinking about ever since Quicksilver died. Seeing a Maison du Mepris wine bottle in the trailer, that fans have translated and interpreted literally as 'House of M', has certainly fuelled these thoughts.

In what is possibly Scarlet Witch's most famous storyline from the comics, Wanda suffers from a mental breakdown and loses control of her powers, essentially cracking the entire universe, turning her back on the mutants at the same time. When she has finished, she has all but eradicated the mutant race from the face of the Earth.

This incredible theory suggests that the mutants have always been present in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, only Wanda has retroactively wiped them out of existence in a House of M style breakdown, leaving no one on Earth with any memory of the likes of the X-Men, a team that may well have been as famous as the Avengers.

This would truly turn the entire franchise upside down, with the reveal that we have been watching a universe disrupted by Wanda from the very beginning. A retcon like this would be unprecedented, and would be one of the few ways the mutants could enter the franchise without the question of where they have been all this time.
