WandaVision: 5 Reasons Mephisto Is The Main Villain

4. "For the Children"

While the first episode sets up a relatively normal sitcom vibe (albeit including a horrifying scene of Vision's boss nearly choking to death), weird things begin to happen in Westview. While the beekeeper, red helicopter and radio transmission can all be explained away (with the likely culprit being S.W.O.R.D.), other instances are not so easily predictable.

The one of the weirdest things to occur in the episode is when the residents of Westview organise a talent show -- for the children. However, this is despite no children ever being showcased in WandaVision thus far.

What makes this interesting is the way in which the townspeople all get behind the show, with Dottie constantly mentioning that the talent show is "for the children." The strangest part about this exchange is that the rest of the town hypnotically chants "for the children" each time it is said, like they are possessed or something.

This leads to a major question; could the majority of the inhabitants of Westview be controlled by Mephisto? It certainly is possible, and it seems almost convenient that they seemingly keep referring back to the idea of children and Wanda suddenly appears pregnant by episode's end.

Did Mephisto want Wanda to get pregnant and wants her to have children for his own nefarious schemes? Only time will tell...
