WandaVision: Ranking The Show's Six Sitcom Eras

5. 1980s - Family Ties

Episode six, set during the eighties, is mostly an homage to the Michael J. Fox sitcom Family Ties, but also includes a few references to Full House, the show in which Elizabeth Olsen's sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley, starred.

The episode is a departure from what the other sitcom episodes had done so far, using the special episode format that became common for sitcoms wanting to tackle more dramatic subjects during the eighties.

Wanda and Vision's young sons adopt a dog, Sparky, who is sadly killed by the end of the episode. Storylines such as this one were quite common in Very Special Episodes, with many intended to help in broaching the subject of death with children.

The more dramatic style better served the storyline beyond the sitcom plot, such as Vision's discovery of the darker goings-on in Westview. Unfortunately, this kept it from being as well-rounded an adaptation of eighties sitcoms as the other episodes were.

On the bright side, the costumes for the ep were brilliant and definitely era accurate.
