Westworld Review: 10 Non-Spoiler Reasons It's HBO's Next Big Thing
7. The Cast Is Excellent
Westworld has a ridiculously sprawling, talented cast - full of established stars, upcoming ones, and a whole host of 'what-have-I-seen-them-in-before' actors; the main cast list alone includes 17 names, with plenty more in recurring roles.
Leading the way is Anthony Hopkins, the biggest name amongst the group, and his talent absolutely shines through. Playing Robert Ford, the creator of Westworld, he's a thoughtful, careful individual, and played movingly by Hopkins. By his side his Jeffrey Wright's Bernard Lowe, the park's programming chief, and an enigmatic figure.
James Marsden's Teddy is the classic hero, all strong jaw and winning smile; Thandie Newton's madame Maeve is one of the sharpest characters on the show; Jimmi Simpson and Ben Barnes an unlikely double-act as visitors to the park; and Ed Harris' super mysterious, even more menacing gunslinger.
The cast is set to be one of the biggest on TV; it's also one of the very best.
