Westworld Season 1: 7 Ups And 3 Downs From 'Chestnut'

3. Ben Barnes' Character Is Flimsy And Annoying

While Jimmi Simpson's William is a very welcome addition to Westworld, the same can't be said - right now - for his friend Logan (Ben Barnes).

While it's William's very first time at Westworld, it transpires that Logan is something of a regular, and of course he's the kind of guy who just loves to choose a black hat.

The issue isn't really with Barnes' performance, but more the writing of the character (and even then it's probably deliberate, but just something I didn't enjoy). He's that know-it-all friend who wants to be really cool and has had experiences you haven't, the guy who gets drunk or loses his virginity before everyone else, and then keeps on pushing his less-cool mate to try and match him. Throughout it just feels like there's nothing to him beyond that most basic level, and he comes off as being really quite irritating, to the point where it'd be better just spending time with William, without him.
