What Happens Next? - 10 MORE Planned Seasons Of Cancelled TV Shows
7. Flashforward
In Flashforward, every person on Earth blackouts simultaneously for 137 seconds. During this time, they have a premonition of where they are going to be in six months time. The final episode of the first and only season takes place on the day that humanity saw in their vision. As humanity experiences another premonition, the episode ends. Despite the fact this was the most crucial part of the story, the studio thought this was the perfect time to cancel the show, leaving audiences desperate to learn the truth behind the premonitions.
The showrunner, Mark Gugenheim, gave some insight of where the story was meant to go. He stated that the Flosso employees, who are responsible for the flashforwards, witnessed a premonition 250 years in the future, showing how humanity had died out. Their intention was to use the flashforward technology to make everyone on Earth travel 250 years into the future to "leapfrog" past the extinction event.
The main characters would kill the Flosso employees, believing them to be villains. When they learn that Flosso was using flashforwards to save humanity, they try to implement Flosso's time-travelling plan to prevent the future cataclysm.
