In The Comics

Patricia 'Patsy' Walker was a redhead with a comic book author mother who became successful after penning a series that followed a fictionalized version of her daughter. Patsy would grow to detest the comic, however, it did lead to her admiration of superheroes. In adulthood, with the help of Beast from the X-Men, she decided to become a hero herself. Thus, Hellcat was born and she would quickly go on to become a member of, fittingly, the Defenders.

In The Show

In the Netflix Marvel Universe, rather than a comic book, it was a TV sitcom that (the now-blonde) Patricia's abusive mother based on her, causing her to renounce the name Patsy and go by Trish. She is also the best friend (and adoptive sister) of Jessica Jones, in addition to hosting her own radio show in New York, on which she covers the strange occurrences in New York during the events of The Defenders.

She has yet to don the spandex, but it is worth mentioning that Trish's actress, Rachael Taylor, has expressed interest in bringing Hellcat to Netflix.
