What The American Dad Voice Actors Look Like In Real Life
3. Scott Grimes
Main Character: Steve Smith
Scott Grimes started acting on television and film at a fairly young age (thirteen to be precise), acting alongside Mickey Rooney in a TV movie called "It Came Upon The Midnight Clear". Like so many members of the cast, Grimes had a fair share of television and film roles under his belt, before landing a prime role on American Dad.
Scott plays the geeky, well-meaning Steve Smith. Although Steve isn't well favoured by his father for not being masculine enough, he is generally beloved by the family and has a stronger relationship with Roger the alien than anyone else, as they often go on adventures together. Originally designed as even more nerdy, the producers felt he was too similar to Neil Goldman from Family Guy, so they rearranged his personality to be a bit cooler.
Steve is also renowned for having a musical side, often breaking out in R&B ballads and it's perhaps because Scott Grimes himself is a very talented singer. Within the music industry, Grimes is best known for co-writing and performing the soft rock single "Sunset Blvd", and for being one of the four singers in Russell Crowe's band Indoor Garden Party. Scott has also been associated with The Carpenters, having performed as a guest vocalist on the Time album by Richard Carpenter of The Carpenters in 1987.
