What The Simpsons Voice Actors Look Like In Real Life
4. Julie Kavner (Marge Simpson)
Additional Voices: Marge Simpson, Patty Bouvier, Selma Bouvier, Jacqueline Bouvier
Julie Kavner is the voice of the Bouvier family in the show, and watching (or rather, listening to) her evolution over time can be very interesting. These days, thirty years of strain on her voice has left her Marge sounding too much like her original Patty and Selma.
In fairness, the character has changed with the times too. Marge is less of the naïve, long suffering wife these days, and has a bit more of a spine to her. The grittier voice does help with that, with Patty and Selma becoming even rougher to compensate.
Homer and Marge's marital issues seem to get one or two episodes a season these days, and while it can get a bit old, Kavner's sturdier Marge voice is definitely a better match when they're arguing. Her old voice established her as a light hearted, melodic character, so whether by accident or design, the change of voice is much more in keeping with her personality these days.
