What The Simpsons Voice Actors Look Like In Real Life

6. Hank Azaria (Moe, Chief Wiggum & Apu, Until Recently)

Nancy Cartwirght Bart Simpson
20th Century Fox

Additional Voices: Carl Carlson, Lou The Cop, Professor Frink, Superintendent Chalmers

The first thing you’ll notice about Hank Azaria is that he’s not Indian, which is where the controversy around him comes in. Let’s just leave that aside for now; the fact the show stereotypes everyone and largely showed Apu in a positive light has been discoursed to death.

Azaria’s moving on, maybe we should too.

Away from that, Azaria has been of huge service to the show, and that shouldn’t be overshadowed. He’s lagging behind the rest of the main cast in terms of episodes, although that’s only because he wasn’t added until Season Three, only recurring in the two previously.

He’s more than made up for that, not only in establishing Chief Wiggum, More (and let’s be honest, Apu) as massive fan favourites. Azaria is also the most prolific cast member, voicing literally thousands of background characters, narrowly beating Dan Castellanata.

Hopefully any Apu fallout won’t damage Azaria’s huge legacy on the show.
