Hot on the heels of casting its Superman for the upcoming second season, The CW's Supergirl has now added Wonder Woman to the mix.

Well, not the character Wonder Woman, but the actress famous for playing her. Lynda Carter, who starred as Diana Prince in the Wonder Woman TV series from 1975-1979.

Carter's casting isn't much of a surprise, given producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg had previously spoken of their desire to get her involved in Season 1, but scheduling wouldn't allow it. Co-showrunner Ali Adler had said to THR previously that having Carter join would be "incredible" and a "true honour."

Her first appearance will come in episode 3 of the new season, and she's set to appear in multiple episodes throughout the sophomore run of the show.

She joins Tyler Hoechlin (who'll be playing the Man of Steel) as the new additions for the second season, and means that the show will have the original Wonder Woman alongside the original Supergirl on the show, with Helen Slater continuing her role as Kara's mother.

Carter last appeared on television playing herself in an episode of Two and a Half Men, while she also popped up in an episode of Smallville, playing the metahuman Moira Sullivan.

Supergirl Season 2 will begin October 10 on The CW.
