5. What Really Happened To Candace?
We don’t know much about Candace, and Joe is an unreliable narrator. Whether you love or hate him, we can agree that his perspective might not always be the truth.
We learn some things about Candace through Joe’s narration and flashbacks, as well as Beck’s detective work which left her convinced that Joe killed Candace. Joe, however, explained that she’s still alive and well, she just changed her name. He shows her Instagram account as proof.
When Candace appears in the bookstore, Joe seems visibly shocked. It’s possible that he thought she was dead, likely at his own hands. We have seen him post on social media pretending to be other people, so it checks out.
The introduction of Candace will finally reveal the truth about what really happened during their relationship and where the hell she has been. This is bound to reveal something new and incriminating about Joe.
