7. Joe's New Neighbour Is His Mother
At the end of season two, Love and Joe are shown to have moved to the suburbs ready to welcome their baby and start their new lives as parents. However, it's revealed that Joe has taking a liking to their new neighbour, who he first spots through the gap in their garden fence.
Joe said: "When I found myself here, locked in, I thought this was the end. But that’s not how destiny works, is it? This is just the beginning… because this is where I had to be – exactly where I had to be to meet You."
As we don't get to see her face, many are theorising who this woman could be and Joe's mother is the top guess. We finally saw her in flashbacks during season two, but we never learn about her current whereabouts or what happened to her. We do know that she was probably Joe's first 'You' as he saved her from his abusive father.
However, Joe's mother wasn't really into reading, yet she's seen reading quite intellectually stimulating books and making notes. She was also quite out of sorts during Joe's childhood. Is it possible that she got her life together, started a new family and Joe tracked her down?
The real Will did tell Joe that we're all "subconsciously trying to date our mums over and over. Patterns are set young and all romance is basically re-enacting parental dynamic." Joe wants to be the father he never had, so maybe he needs his mother back.
